Born in Sydney in 1957. Attended University of Sydney (BA) and University of NSW (MA). Lived and worked several years in the UK, Thailand and Indonesia.

Extensively photographed the Indochinese refugee diaspora in the 1980s. Photographs appeared in several UN publications.

First exhibition Journey for Life 1991 at Sydney Opera House, joining Japanese photographer Masanori Kobayashi. Highlighted Iraqi Kurds border-crossing into Iran. Exhibition travelled to Melbourne, Parliament House Canberra, Wellington and Tokyo in 1991-2.

Exhibited as a solo artist in Australia since 1998. Group shows include 7 Artists at Stills Gallery, Sydney, 2002, featuring multi-panel work obsequiae. Twice selected to exhibit at the Sydney Contemporary Art Fair [2018 and 2022].

Works held in private collections in France, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UK, Canada, Australia and the USA. Nominated for the Head On Portrait Prize [2006] and the Blake Prize [2008]. Shortlisted for the Head On Portrait Prize [2008 and 2010].

Photographs appear in several art publications, including the books Burma: Art and Archaeology [The British Museum, 2002] and the Australian Photography and Gallery Compendium [2012].
